Eid al-Adha

Meillä muslimeilla on kaksi suurta juhlaa vuodessa.Yksi on Ramadanin päättymisjuhla Eid al-Fitr, joka tänä vuonna juhlittiin heinäkuun lopussa. Toinen juhla on Eid al-Adha, joka ajoittuu islamin kalenterin 11.kuukauteen (Duhul al-Hajj). Varsinainen juhlapäivä on kuukauden 10.päivänä, jolloin pyhiinvaeltajat ovat kiivenneet Arafa-vuorelle. Eid al-Adha, toisin sanoen uhrauksen juhla, on suurempi juhla kuin Ramadanin päättymisjuhla. Eid al-Adha kestää kolme päivää. Muslimit uhraavat yhden lampaan tai vuohien ja on suositeltu että liha jaetaan kolmeen osaan, josta yksi osa jää omalle perheelle, toinen osa jaetaan sukulaisille, naapureille ja ystäville, ja kolmas osa jaetaan vähävaraisille.

We Muslims have to big holidays in a year. One feast is in the end of month of Ramadan which is called Eid al-Fitr and this year it was celebrated at the end of July. Another feast is called Eid al-Adha which is take place in the 11th month of Islamic calender (Duhul al-Hajj). The actual day of celebration is tenth day of the month when the pilgrims has reached the Mount Arafat. Eid al-Adha also called the Feast of the Sacrifice  is bigger holiday that the Eid al-Fitr. Eid al-Adha lasts for three days. Muslims sacrifice a lamb or a goat and it is recommended that the sacrificed animal will be divided into three parts. One part will remain for own family, the second part will be given to relatives, neighbors and friends and the third part will be given to those less fortune ones. 

Tänä vuonna vietimme Eid al-Adhaa 4.lokakuuta. Tällä kertaa olimme onnekkaita ja saimme paremman paikan vuokrattua Eid rukousta varten. Lämpimän ja iloisen ilmapiirin aistii jo parkkipaikassa. Kaikki ovat pukeutuneet uusiin hienoihin vaatteihin vastasyntyneitä myöten ja jokainen tuntematonkin tervehtii toista.

This year we celebrated the Feast of the Sacrifice 4th of October. This time we were lucky and we got a much better place for Eid prayer. One can feel the warm and happy atmosphere all the way from the parking lot. Everybody are wearing new fancy clothes starting with the newborns and everybody, even the strangers are greeting each other.

Juhlarukouksen jälkeen palasimme kotiin ja söimme perheen kesken juhla-aterian, jonka kruunasi ihanat herkut.
After the prayer we went hope and had a family meal, topped off by lovely delicacies. 

Illalla tapasimme kaikki tytöt yhdessä viettämään Eid-juhlaa. Jokainen tyttö lähetti omat hauskat ja nolot kuvat etukäteen yhdelle tytöistämme, joka kokosi niistä erittäin hyvän diaesityksen. Muistelimme myös meidän yhteistä menneisyyttä. Nauroimme kyllä aika paljon illan aikana. :)

In the evening we all girls gathered to celebrate Eid feast. Every girl send their own funny and embarrassing pictures beforehand to one of our girls. Then she gather them all to one really good Power Point presentation. We were also looking back to our common past. We had a lot of laugh that night. :)
