Hijab tutorial

Aiomme järjestää kesäkuussa Turun keskustan kävelykadulla tapahtuman, jossa muun muassa jokainen halukas naispuolinen henkilö pääsee kokeilemaan huivin käyttöä. Olemme valinneet kuusi erilaista huivityyliä, joista halukkaat saavat kokeilla haluamaansa huivityyliä.

We are planning to organize an event in the pedestrian street of Turku city center in June where any willing female person may come and try on the head scarf. We have chosen six different hijab styles and the willing may try on the hijab style they wish

Monet miettivät ja kysyvät meiltä usein, miten laitamme huiveja ja miten se pysyy päässä koko päivän liikkumatta. Todellisuudessa korjailemme huivia koko ajan, välillä huomaamattakin. Loppujen lopuksi huivin laittaminen sujuu hyvin nopeasti, kun sen on kerran oppinut. Huivia voi siinä mielessä verrata hiuksiin, että samalla tavalla kuin on olemassa huonoja hiuspäiviä, niin on myös huonoja huivipäiviä. Hiuksia voi laittaa miljoonilla eri tavoilla ja uusia tyylejäkin voi aina keksiä lisää tai oppia kavereilta. Kuitenkin aina päädytään omaan turvalliseen tuttuun tyyliin. Joskus hiuksien laittamiseen kulutetaan tunteja, kun taas maanantaiaamuna hyvä jos hiustenlaitolle ehtii viittä minuuttia varata. Sama pätee huiviin. Huivin tyylit ja värit ovat hyvin persoonallisia ja ne tuovat usein esille henkilön persoonan. Osa käyttää vain tummia huiveja kun taas toiset eivät uskalla lähestyäkään niitä. Kuten on niitä, jotka värjäävät hiuksiaan pinkiksi niin on myös niitä, jotka käyttävät mitä ihmeellisimpiä ja taiteellisimpia huivityylejä.

Many wonder and often ask us how we put the scarf on and how we manage to keep it still in our head the whole day. In reality we fix the scarf all the time and sometimes without realizing it. After all putting the scarf is very fast act once it's learned. The scarf can be compared to the hair the same way as there are bad hair days, there are also bad scarf days. The hair can be put in millions of different ways and people always come up with more new styles or they will learn from their friends. However people always end up to their own safe and familiar style. Sometimes putting hair may take hours while on Monday morning one has only few minutes time to put one's hair. The same applies to scarf. The scarf styles and colors are very personal and they often express one's personality. Some people use only dark scarves while others don't dare to approach them. Like there is those who dye their hair with pink color there is also those who use the most amazing and artistic hijab styles.

Tässä on yksi kehittelemistämme huivityyleistä. Tämä on jokapäiväinen huivityyli ja sitä voi käyttää niin työpaikalla kuin juhlissakin. Se on hyvin helppo laittaa, eikä sen laittaminen vie kauan aikaa.

Here is one our developed hijab style. This is an everyday scarf style and it can be used both at work or to the party. It doesn't take a long time to put it on and it's very easy.

Tähän huivityyliin tarvitset nuppineulan, hakaneulan, alushuivin sekä valitsemasi huivin.
To this scarf style you need a pinhead, pin, underscarf and the scarf you wish to wear.

Ensin laitat alushuivin päähän. Tämän jälkeen taita huivi kaksinkerroin ja aseta se niin, että huivin reunat tulevat eteen kasvoja vasten. Aseta huivi siten, että sinulle jää toiselle puolelle lyhyt ja toiselle pitkä puoli.
Fist put on the underscarf. After this twofold the scarf and place it so that the edges of the scarf  will be in front of your face. Place the scarf is such way that you have a short side on one side and the long side on the other.

Seuraavaksi otat huivin sisemmästä kerroksesta kiinni ja asetat sen hyvin kasvojesi ympärille ja kiinnität sen hakaneulalla sopivasti. Hakaneulan voit halutessasi jättää pois, silloin tyylistä tulee rennompi. Ilman hakaneulaakin huivi pysyy hyvin päässä.
Next take the inner layer of the scarf and place it well around your face and pin it with safety pin. If you which you may leave the safety pin out, then the style will be more relaxed. The scarf will stay well in your head without the safety pin too.

Kun olet kiinnittänyt huivin haluamallasi tavalla, ota pidemmästä puolesta kiinni ja kierrätä se pääsi ympäri. Voit halutessasi kiinnittää huivin nuppineulalla varmistaaksesi sen, että huivi pysyy hyvin päässä. Jos huivisi on hyvin pitkä, kierrätä se kahdesti pääsi ympäri.
After you have fixed the scarf in the way you wanted, the the longer side and circulate it around your head. You may  pin the scarf with pinhead to make sure that it stays well in the head. If your scarf is very long, circulate it twice around your head.
